Between limestone peaks, Jiva Hoa Lu sits in the middle of the valley, surrounded by mountains at the heart of Ninh Binh, where the stillness of nature sets the pace.
Jiva Hoa Lu opened in 2024, but it wasn't built to feel new. Inspired by the legends of King Đinh Bộ Lĩnh, who made Hoa Lu Vietnam's first capital over a thousand years ago, the retreat recreates a traditional village, house by house. Only one building is genuinely old: a 120-year-old church, restored stone by stone, where guests now dine.
Dark wood, unpolished stone, and natural fibers. Every room repeats the same gesture: nothing competes with the mountain visible through the window.
Even water has its own ritual here: raw stone, wood that holds warmth, and light entering through the window, as if the bathroom too had been designed for stillness.
A Vietnamese coffee cools slowly on the terrace as someone reads in silence. Here, the mountain asks nothing of you. Neither does the clock.
